Mukesh Ambani is building a $1 billion home for himself in India. I guess there is not yet a housing slump in India.
I did a quick calculation at Bankrate.com, and found that if he had a 30-year fixed mortgage on the property with an 80% LTV, his monthly mortgage payment would be $5,322,419.
My guess though is that he doesn't. But that sure makes me feel better about my payment on the Pratt Mansion.
Perhaps instead of spending so much money on a gross excess, he could build a small $300 Million dollar home and use the rest to help humanity. Nah, he must NEED a billion dollar home.

Who wouldn't want a billion dollar home? A gust of wind will have that billion dollar home making some poor family a lot of money in scrap metal. Almost everyone in India right now is suffering, unable to feed their families and running out of water, and this guy wants to build a house for a billion dollars to rub it in the rest of the country's faces. Great humanitarian! Keep up the great work

Is the image on the left is the real house of Mukesh? Because that is so unusual!

@digger derricks and Adam
Although, you can call spending $1 billion on a home an excess, the fact of the matter is, he can, and he has too. We have to be realistic, he's a business magnate, and he's expected to act like such. If he were dealing with investors and they find out that he spends frugally on his house, what vote of confidence do you think will he receive from those investors. People invest money in people who take risks with money. Remember the saying, "bet big, win big?" Besides, he's already providing help by giving out jobs. I never saw giving people money as charity. It would be much better to help them stand up on their own two feet, and deem themselves worthy of success. Besides, I doubt anybody would be doing it differently, given they're in the same situation and financial status. Rock stars and movie stars build lavish home, and yet I hardly hear people complain about it.
These are just my opinions, and not in any way written to sway you fromyour beliefs. Thanks for hearing me out.
