Showing Revit Construction Phases in Navisworks

Just recently, I have been experimenting with Revit Construction Phases and noticed that they were not showing up in Navisworks.  Scott Johnson from our TS Construction team has run into the same issue and offered this solution:

Make sure your Global Options in Navisworks have the Interface-->Selection-->Resolution set to 'First Object'.  Note the Import and Export buttons - these allow you to save your settings to share with others! 

   

With the Global Options set correctly the Revit Phase options now show in the Navisworks Properties tab. 

   

The Find Items tab in Navisworks can be used to locate building objects based on Revit Phases.  Navisworks selection sets can be created and associated with TimeLiner to link to construction schedules.  Once links are established, TimeLiner give us the ability to show what a project will look like at specific dates according to the project schedule. 

Greenbuild 2008

I spent much of last week at Greenbuild in Boston. Busy show; great theme, lots of forward-thinking, revved up people around.

We didn't make C|Net's Greenbuild blog entry directly, but you can see our booth sign behind the Interface booth.

Vico & Autodesk - BIM Partners

Vico Software has just announced that they are partnering with Autodesk to support Revit models!  The press release explains that:

"the initial focus of the partnership has been integrating Vico's Virtual Construction Suite with Autodesk Revit for Building Information Modeling" - Clay Freeman (Vico CTO)

I'm sure more details will follow... Also - Vico will be at AU this year so if you're going to be in Vegas next week you can visit them in the Exhibit Hall.

          

Special Effects on weekly TV shows

Ever wonder where all those special effects come from on regular TV shows, games, and movies?  You might be surprised to hear that many come from Autodesk products.  Autodesk's Media & Entertainment division creates products like:  Smoke, Lustre, and Flame that TV shows use daily.

Google Tells Time

You might have known this, but Google lets you type in a city name and the word "Time" (such as "Sydney Time" and it gives you the current time in that city. Fast, simple, Google. Coming from someone who is slightly time-zone obsessed, I say: Good job!
