Not as many of the big production homebuilders do work in Santa Fe as I would have thought. It's more of a pricey market, with special construction techniques.

I took a trip through Santa Fe recently on my way to Colorado, and took some pictures of a home under construction there. They use honest-to-God clay brick construction - no stick framing here! I was pretty impressed and surprised to see how the adobe look is achieved...
You may not find many production home builders in Santa Fe, but they are building like mad about 70 miles south (a few miles south of Albuquerque) in towns like Los Lunas and Belen—-you can tell by the proliferation of Pulte, KB, DR Horton, Centex billboards along southbound I-25. Also, Forest City Developers has an enormous joint-venture development underway just south of ABQ called Mesa del Sol—35,000 new homes, 18 mil sq ft commercial space, 5300 acres for parks and open space, construction to begin in 2008 I think. Not sure who the home builders are yet, but check out the web site: www.mesadelsolnm.com
